Free Binaural Beats – 3 Reasons Not to Use Them

Free binaural beats MP3 recordings seem to be everywhere these days, and that has to be a good thing. I mean, who doesn’t like free, right? Well, maybe we need to remember that we get what we pay for. Free binaural beats are free for a reason: they’re not as good as binaural beats you buy, and you shouldn’t use them if you really want to get results from your brainwave entrainment sessions.

Three Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Free Binaural Beats

  1. How Do You Know What You’re Getting? When you buy binaural beats from a reputable supplier, you can be very confident that you’re getting an MP3 or CD that was produced by a professional sound engineer using advanced equipment to embed exactly the right auditory tones into your recording. Decent sellers stand behind their products with long warranty periods – eight weeks in some cases – and have verifiable user testimonials. If, on the other hand, you download an MP3 from some kind of file-sharing service or some anonymous blog, how on earth do you know what you’re getting? It could be worthless junk with no tones at all, the wrong kind of tones, or such poor-quality tones that they will never work. There are all kinds of jokers and shysters on the web who will pass off garbage as the real thing, just for kicks. Always be suspicious of their quality!
  2. Stock Recordings are Inferior. If you are lucky enough to get an actual binaural beat recording for free, in all likelihood it will just be something from a generic stock catalog. If it’s been re-recorded or copied multiple times, the integrity of the tones could well have been compromised. We have to remember that MP3s are compressed audio files; if this compression process is handled clumsily, too much sound data will be lost. The whole point of binaural beats is to expose the brain to sound frequencies that it can’t normally hear (below 20 Hz); to do this, the left and right ears must be exposed to exactly the right frequency differential. Any significant data loss in either channel will corrupt the recording. It might still sound like a nice piece of music with a pulse in the background, but it won’t work.
  3. Free MP3s Could be Stolen. It’s no secret that the music industry went to war against file-sharing sites because of the threat they posed to creative copyrights and the income that flows from them. A lot of people are not too sympathetic towards the big music companies, and don’t lose any sleep over this “borrowing” of someone else’s work. Of course, there is a moral argument here as well as a purely financial one, and both arguments apply to the producers of binaural beats MP3s just as much as they do to music or computer software. Unless they’re giving away free samples, the original producers deserve to be compensated for their efforts.

If you’re going to take brainwave entrainment seriously, then you need to work with high-quality recordings that you know are going to work. Your time is too valuable, and your goals are too important, to take chances with free MP3s that almost certainly won’t do what you want them to. And you might be surprised just how affordable genuine recordings from top producers can be. You can find an excellent guide to the top producers here: Meditation MP3.

Isochronic Tones – Should You Buy Isochronic Tones?

In an earlier post, Isochronic Tones – Why Isochronic Tones Beat Binaural Beats, we looked at the superiority of this latest technique in brainwave entrainment. This article moves beyond technical comparisons and explores the exciting benefits of isochronic tones. Their potential is truly remarkable!

Whether your goal is relaxation with alpha brainwaves, greater concentration (including ADD treatment) with beta brainwaves, exploring the subconscious in theta, or exploiting the physical regeneration that accompanies delta, your goal will be reached quicker, easier, and more effectively with isochronic tones. While headphones are not necessary with this technology, using them will enhance your meditation session by cutting out unwanted distractions. Choose your destination wisely, because these tones work!

  • Free yourself from stress with powerful meditation sessions, attaining a relaxed alpha state in as little as ten minutes. The more you listen to these special recordings, the easier it will be for you to revert to a state of inner peace. You no longer need to be a hostage to the worries and pressures of everyday life that seem so inescapable in our usual waking state of beta.
  • Tap into the creativity of the right brain that runs rampant when the conscious mind is asleep. Come up with solutions to nagging problems that your logical mind cannot fathom. Encouraging theta waves on a regular basis will make the wisdom of the subconscious mind readily available through enhanced intuition.
  • Enjoy natural and healthy feelings of well-being without resorting to self-destructive habits like alcohol or drugs. The restoration of neuro-chemical equilibrium that takes place in the theta state will help you break free of addictive patterns of behavior.
  • Perform at your highest level and act with greater confidence. The performance-enhancing properties of theta brainwaves were demonstrated by a study involving 100 students of the Royal College of Music in London. Those exposed to theta sessions improved by one musical grade – and the gains were permanent.
  • Effectively treat Attention-Deficit Disorder by inducing beta waves if your natural tendency is to exhibit excessive theta. Most people need to spend less time in a beta state, but those suffering from ADD have the opposite problem. Isochronic tone recordings can induce beta brainwaves just as well if needed.
  • Repair your body on a cellular level by inducing the delta waves normally generated only during deep sleep. It is in this state – which many poor sleepers seldom reach – that DNA repair is effected. In an increasingly polluted world that threatens us with so many carcinogenic substances, our bodies need every opportunity to repair damage. If you’re not getting enough proper sleep, you need to spend more time in delta.

These are just a few of the many personal benefits attainable with isochronic tone brainwave entrainment. The value of these benefits far exceeds the remarkably low cost of these recordings, which can be downloaded over the internet in the comfort of your own home. Today, the results of years of neural research and advanced digital audio technology are available with an ease that would boggle the minds of earlier generations.

You can start experiencing some of these benefits for free with some high-quality samples from The Unexplainable Store. There is nothing more exciting than exploring the potentials that have always been within you!

Isochronic Tones – Why Isochronic Tones Beat Binaural Beats

Isochronic tones are the most sophisticated method yet devised to enable ordinary people to control their own brainwaves. For those of us who cannot spare the time to study advanced meditation techniques, or who cannot afford to set up expensive in-home biofeedback equipment, listening to recordings of isochronic tones offers the cheapest and easiest route to brainwave entrainment.

Many people are familiar by now with the basic concept of how external stimuli, whether sound or light, can induce a frequency-following response in the brain. This phenomenon can be exploited to our advantage, using sounds of particular frequencies to induce desired brainwave patterns. For example, someone having trouble sleeping might benefit greatly from inducing the delta brainwaves associated with deep, dreamless, and restorative sleep.

But what is the best technique for entrainment? Up to now, binaural beats have been the most widely used technology, and many online vendors of binaural beats MP3s have sprung up on the web. (Not all of these really know what they’re doing, but that’s another story!) Yet even the 1973 article in Scientific American that brought binaural beats to prominence acknowledged that their effectiveness is questionable. The author of that article, Dr. Gerald Oster, found binaural beats to be as perceptible as 1/10th of a whisper – essentially subliminal. This makes them easy to blend with pleasing relaxation music, but is not a recipe for powerful entrainment sessions.

Whereas binaural beats require the brain to interpret two independent frequencies presented to the left and right ears through headphones, isochronic tones do not “ask” the brain to figure anything out and can be listened to without headphones if the user prefers. Isochronic tones are very well-defined, carefully spaced pulses of sound targeting the exact frequency desired for entrainment. They evoke a profound cortical response and can achieve the intended result much more quickly and deeply than binaural beats ever could.

Possible Disadvantages

For some users, isochronic tones may simply be too powerful, leading to headaches. A period of gradual acclimatization may be necessary. The larger issue is that the very sharpness of the tones makes them harder to incorporate into the kinds of music soundtracks with which binaural beats users are familiar. A session with isochronic tones is a more serious meditation session – a session with a purpose. It is for people who know exactly where they want to go, mentally or spiritually, and are determined to get there in the most effective way. Isochronic tones are a tool; they are not elevator music!

If you feel ready to take your meditation sessions to the next level, or you’re not quite satisfied with the results of using binaural beats, high-quality free samples are available at The Unexplainable Store.
